Last Monday saw the release of some beautiful new pictures of Beauty Hunter's favourite Nick Hissom. Nick who's still only 17 years old has been doing the rounds in New York trying to get his face about while building up his model portfolio. The pictures were taken by Joseph Bleu a man who spent nearly fifteen years in the fashion buisness in Paris and New York but then decided to turn his hand to photography, realizing that it was his true passion.
We managed to catch up with Nick this week and through his FORM-SPRING-ME page he kindly gave us a short question and answer session. Here's how it went.
B.H . NICK THESE NEW PICTURES BY JOSEPH BLEU HAVE A VERY SEDUCTIVE AND YOUTHFUL LOOK ABOUT THEM. YOU MUST BE PLEASED WITH THEM. ARE THERE ANY MORE PLANS SOON FOR MORE BIG NAME PHOTOGRAPHERS TO COME FORWARD AND CAPTURE THOSE SMOULDERING LOOKS?
NICK... I am very happy to have already worked with and maintain good relations with such esteemed photographers such as Kai Z Feng and Joseph Bleu and though nothing is set in stone yet, there is a good chance that I will work with my old friend Ian Cole whilst I am in London next week.
B.H... OBVIOUSLY YOU'RE JUST STARTING OUT IN THE MODELLING WORLD AND TRYING TO GET YOURSELF ESTABLISHED IN NEW YORK BUT ARE THERE ANY PLANS TO GET YOU ON THE CATWALK RUNWAYS SOON? THE LAST TIME I WAS IN NEW YORK DURING A MONTH OF SEPTEMBER THEY HAD THE NEW YORK FASHION WEEK. I THINK IT WAS HELD IN AND AROUND BRYANT PARK. MIGHT THAT BE SOMETHING FOR YOU TO AIM FOR?
NICK...I think that NY Fashion week is definitely a good target and one which is within my reach if my agents and myself work really hard at it. I have been working very hard whilst in New York to get my book going in preparation for the shows so we will see what happens. Of course if it were up to me alone I'd be on runway in a second.
B.H....IF THE MODELLING TAKES OFF IN A MUCH BIGGER WAY THAN YOU PLANNED THIS SUMMER THEN WILL YOU STILL BE COMMITTED TO STARTING AT PENN UNIVERSITY THIS COMING FALL?
NICK...Yes. However, I do not believe that I will not be able to juggle the two successfully, The University of Pennsylvania is only an hour outside of New York and the School is very understanding of my situation in the event that I need to miss classes in order to work... as long as I maintain a high GPA whilst commuting back and forth there will be no conflicts between my academic and professional lives.
B.H...NEW YORK IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE CITIES. HAVE YOU ACCUSTOMIZED TO IT YET? AND HAVE YOU HAD TIME TO CHILL OUT IN CENTRAL PARK. SUNDAY WAS ALWAYS MY FAVOURITE DAY THERE.
NICK... I spent my Sunday relaxing on The Great Lawn in Central Park as a matter of fact, and I'm slowly growing more accustomed to the city. In all honesty I find it simple compared to London because everything is so easy to navigate with the grid-system! I have been out a few times but I take my work very seriously (and half the time my work is play to me) so I dont go out too often.
B.H... YOU SAID THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE ANOTHER PHOTO SESSION WITH KAI Z FENG. WILL THAT HAPPEN SOON?
NICK... Me and Kai still remain good friends, so we will see what happens!! However, there are no plans for us to work together in the future as of yet.
B.H... YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I WAS TAKEN BY THOSE FIRST IAN COLE PICTURES, EVEN THE CLOTHES WERE AMAZING. YOU LOOKED LIKE A CROSS BETWEEN AN ENGLISH DANDY AND A LATE 1960's CARNABY STREET HIPPY CHILD. AND TO TOP IT ALL WAS THAT AMAZING HAIRSTYLE CREATED BY STYLIST KIM ROY. BUT I'VE ALWAYS BEEN CURIOUS, DID YOU KEEP THAT HAIRSTYLE AND JUST LET IT GROW AND CURL OUT AFTER THAT PHOTO SESSION? IT MADE YOU LOOK ALMOST LIKE A BEAUTIFUL ASIAN MANNEQUIN.
NICK...Thankyou!! The hair that you loved so much was actually our first look, so by the time we got to our third look it had been totally destroyed... However I did show up to a family dinner that I was late for that night in full make-up and fizzed straight hair and so I made myself look more "appropriate" in the bathroom of the restaurant hahaha!!
B.H. ANYWAY NICK GOOD LUCK WITH THE PORTFOLIO BUILD UP. WE ALL HOPE IT'S GOING TO GO WELL WITH YOU. THANKS AGAIN.
NICK... Thankyou so much, and thanks for taking an interest in me.

Talk about smouldering! Lovely new pictures! Interesting read too...loved the part about his hair (by Kim Roy). Aparently Nick didn't like it too much ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see that he's still so down to earth.
Thanks Luke, Of course you know how I loved the hair.
