FRANCESC COLOMER
BY
MANUEL OUTUMURO
Young Spanish actor Francesc Colomer appears in a clever portrait by Spanish photographer Manuel Outumuro titled 'Boy With A Pipe.' It is of course a take on the famous Pablo Picasso portrait that Picasso painted in 1905 during a period described as his pink period.
Photographer Outumuro created several other artistic and historical portraits featuring well known Spanish actors and actresses. The portraits were commisioned by The Film Festival San Sebastian alongside Marie Claire Magazine.
Other famous artist themes featured actors posing in recreated works by Caravaggio, Goya and Valazquez.
Fourteen year old actor Francesc is the very familiar face from one of Spain's most successful recent movies titled 'Pa Negre' (Black Bread) 2010. As well as receiving a lot of international praise the film won 9 statuettes at the Goya Film Awards.
In 'Pa Negre' the period revolves around the harsh post war years in the Catalan countryside. Andreu (Francesc Colomer) plays a child that belongs to the losing side. And when one day finds a corpse in the forest the local authorities want his Father to be made responsible. But Andreu tries to help his Father by trying to find out who was really responsible.
In his search Andreu develops a moral consciousness against the world of adults fed by lies. So in order to survive, he betrays his own roots and ends up finding out the monster that lies within him.
